Hi! Welcome back to our MAVENCLAD series.
We’re going to show you how to store and take your MAVENCLAD tablets.
The patient information leaflet also explains how to take MAVENCLAD.
You can download it from the adveva website.
The first thing to remember is that you must keep your tablets in their original carton and not transfer them to another container.
MAVENCLAD tablets are uncoated. It’s important to protect your tablets from any moisture.
Store them in a dry place where children can’t reach them.
If you lose or damage one of your MAVENCLAD tablets, contact your adveva team immediately.
And if you need more tablets, contact your healthcare professional immediately.
You will take MAVENCLAD for two treatment weeks per year, for a total of two years. The two treatment weeks are spaced one month apart.
During each of your two treatment weeks, you will take your prescribed dose of MAVENCLAD each day, for 4 or 5 days.
Make a note of your prescribed dosage.
You can use the blank dosing schedule included in your booklet so you don’t forget how many tablets you need to take.
If you forget how many tablets you need to take then speak to your healthcare professional or call the adveva team.
You will take MAVENCLAD for 2 years, then, in Years 3 and 4, you will not need to take MAVENCLAD.
While you're taking MAVENCLAD, and for up to 4 years after you take your first dose, your healthcare professional will monitor you with blood tests and MRI scans.
Remember to confirm with adveva after you have taken your first dose on Day 1 and your last dose on Day 10 in both Years 1 and 2.
It’s important that you take all of your medication exactly as prescribed.
If you are not sure about your dose or have any questions, speak to your healthcare professional or call us directly.
Now let’s take a look at the steps for taking MAVENCLAD.
Step 1. Preparation.
Make sure you don’t have any other oral medicines 3 hours before or 3 hours after you take MAVENCLAD.
Have a glass of water ready.
And make sure your hands are dry.
Now we’re ready for step 2.
Open the pack with the opening instructions facing up.
Open the flap on the left end of the carton.
Push in the hooks on the sides of the carton and gently pull the tray out until it stops. Don’t try to remove the tray from the carton. It’s important the tray stays in the carton to help prevent anyone from touching the tablets, especially children.
Step 3. Pop out your tablet.
To do this, push your finger through the hole of the tray and pop out a tablet from the blister pack.
Swallow it immediately with your glass of water.
Make sure you keep your tablet away from surfaces, such as a table.
And don’t handle your tablet for longer than is necessary.
Some patients are prescribed 2 tablets a day.
In this case, pop out a second tablet from the blister pack and swallow it immediately with your glass of water.
Finally, step 4. Clean up!
Wash your hands using soap and water and wipe any surface where you’ve placed your tablets…
before putting the pack away.
Keep the tablets in the blister pack until your next dose. It is important that the tablets stay in the blister pack to help prevent anyone from touching the tablets or taking them by mistake.
With dry hands,
unhook the tray,
slide it out
and then pop out a tablet.
Then wash your hands.
If you are not sure about any of these instructions, talk to your healthcare professional or call the adveva team.
If you forget to take a tablet, take it as soon as you remember on that day.
Do not take the missed dose along with the next scheduled dose.
This is because you must not take two days’ worth of tablets at the same time.
If a whole day passes before you remember, simply take the missed dose on the next day and then just extend the number of days in that treatment week by one day.
If you miss two doses, the same rule applies. You should extend the treatment course by 2 days.
Continue to take the rest of your MAVENCLAD as planned.
If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Don’t forget, you can download a leaflet to show you how to take your MAVENCLAD tablets.
